CU Scholarship Awarded to Huerter, McClurg

The Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield Credit Union is sending high school seniors, Cody Huerter and Emalee McClurg, to college with $1,000 scholarships.

Cody, son of Mike & Hannah Huerter and grandson of CU member Louella Talley, graduated from Centralia Rural High School in May. During his high school career, he was involved in National Honor Society, FFA, football, basketball, and track. He will attend Highland Community College this fall.

Emalee, daughter of Dreana & Mike McClurg, is a Jefferson West High School graduate. Her school activities included FCCLA, Spanish Club, SADD, and cheerleading. She also will attend Highland Community College to study wildlife and outdoor enterprise management.

The scholarship money will help Cody and Emalee with tuition, books, fees, or room and board. An independent committee of the Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield Credit Union Board of Directors made the scholarship selections. Academic achievement, financial need, community involvement, and recommendation letters from a teacher or counselor were considered during the selection process.

Congratulations Cody, Emalee and families!
